Teaching Philosophy

As an educator, I strive to encourage students to learn about dances in their contextual importance through historical and contemporary lenses. I always aim to learn from my students just as much as I implore new and insightful perspectives from them, and I believe that the classroom is a safe space for conversation and debate. I understand that my background and knowledge aren’t the end all be all and I know that students’ interests and various cultural influences will inform how I teach and introduce new topics. Most importantly, I will share my love and passion for dance with my students and encourage them to explore their individual artistic selves with their classmates and the world around them.
